Cheap & Fast Oil Recipes!

Cheap & Fast Oil Recipes!

I am finally getting back to this post after being able to really get a feel for the products I made with my oils. I wanted to make sure I had a good understanding on how they worked and if I would have changed anything or the way I used them.

A while ago, I got together at my house with some girlfriends and we decided to make some household products with our new oil starter kits. I wanted to get the most out of the kit and not just sit and diffuse them all day long. Our top items we decided we needed to try [and in hopes of saving some money] was the laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent. I still remember a long time ago I was watching a “18 Kids and Counting” show and they were talking about how they save money by making their own detergent and thinking to myself…. You people are nuts! Fast forward to now and here I am doing the same J

While making the items, we realized we could easily make a few more small products quickly. I ended up making Lavender Bed Spray and Hand Wash Soap. I kid you not, this whole process maybe took an hour! It was so easy and SO cheap. I think it’s also fun to get a group of friends together and make them together.

I used all the recipes out of the Young Living Recipe Book I bought at the party I went to. My friend [Oil Expert] Amy, ended up just going on Amazon and ordering all the extra products we needed. A lot of them can also be bought at Target, which I love, because who wants to search high and low and have to go to weird stores just to find ingredients! We also used large buckets for our laundry detergent [You will need these, you make a TON of detergent] and Amy got them at Lund’s where she used to work. She said you can go there and just ask for them! When it was all said and done, we each only paid $18 to make all these products. We also had a lot of ingredients left over, so realistically I think we could have almost doubled everything we made.  The ONLY tip or change I have is in regards to the Laundry Detergent. We used the castile soap bars, then you have to shave and melt them. However, you can use the liquid castile soap vs the bar. [WAY easier!!]

Here is the cost breakdown:

Laundry Detergent: 640 Loads of Laundry

Dish Washer Soap: [ We doubled the recipe] 20- 25 Loads of Dishes

Hand Soap: 2 Pump Bottles

Lavender Mist Spray: 2 Bottles

* I get my bottles and other container items from www.discoverlsp.com *

The cost alone to make all these products is actually crazy to me. Steve came home while we were making them and thought we were nuts, until I told him how much I just saved him ;)

Like I said above, I wanted to wait on this post until I actually got a good sense for these products and how they work. I have to say, I love every single one I made!! I have yet to see any negatives to anything we have used. I was most nervous for the dishwasher detergent but it works awesome. I have great products and it was super cheap… how could you not want to join the oil band wagon ;)
