Halloween 2016
Holidays around here keep getting better as the kids get older. It is always a weird phase when they really have no clue what’s going on, but yet as parents, we go crazy with presents and events for them.
Jack is by far at that age where anything that has to do with celebrations/candy/presents he is so into it! His day was made when we took down all the Halloween decorations in the garage and let him do his own decorating. Last year Grandma Vicki thought it was an awesome idea to buy every blow up [outdoor] holiday character at Home Depot. We currently have a giant turkey and ghost blown up in our dining room. There would have been a pumpkin, but darn… it didn’t work.
This year the kids had a few Halloween parties on top of trick-or-treating. [Or as Jack calls it, going to ask people for candy at their homes] At daycare and preschool the kids had parties and costume parades. For a while, we had Jack fighting off strep but still managed to do pumpkin carving. Savannah painted some pumpkins at Grandma Vicki’s, holy mess. We did some cookie decorating and ended the Halloween celebration with good ol trick or treating. Both sets of grandparents came over for dinner and they went around the neighborhood with us.
It was crazy to get the “on this day” reminder on Facebook on Halloween. Looking back two years was little Jack, 2 years old and me in the same stage of pregnancy I am now but with Savannah. I also got the friendly reminder that there is less than 36 days until this baby comes… gulp. Once you thrown in Thanksgiving its game over. This baby will be here so quick that I just need to embrace the time remaining with my two hyper ball children. Oh, and did I forget to mention BOTH kid’s birthday’s in there to do before baby. A lot to do in so little time.
I hope you all had a fabulous Halloween and have been soaking up the snow free weather… we all know it’s coming!! Happy WEEKEND!
